Information about who coroners are, the role of a coroner and contact information for coroners in Croydon.
When someone dies, the death has to be registered.
The death will usually be registered by a medical professional. They will sign a medical certificate stating the cause of death, giving a medical cause that is regarded as natural. In these instances, the coroner is not involved.
In all other circumstances, the death will be reported to the coroner. This will either be by the registrar of deaths or by others, such as a doctor, police officer or family member.
