As a result of public consultation and our wish to meet the needs of people who visit Greenlawn Memorial Park, there are regulations regarding the items which may be left on graves, cremation plots and the sanctum vaults.
Regulations allow for one plastic trough per plot. This must be sunk to the rim and may be decorated with flowers, plants, artificial flowers and memorabilia as long as these are contained within the trough. The troughs must be dark brown, dark grey, black or green and a maximum size of 40cm (16 inch) long, 16cm (6.5 inch) wide and 13cm (5 inch) high. The overall height of any item within the trough cannot exceed 30cm (12 inch). Troughs can be purchased from the council or elsewhere.
Alternatively, the plot may contain up to two standard black, green or silver unbreakable flower containers, sunk to the rim and containing flowers only. These must not exceed a ground area of 15cm x 15cm (7.5 inch x 7.5 inch). The overall height of any flowers within the vases cannot exceed 30cm.
Troughs and vases should only be placed at the foot of the grave or plot or at the rear of any memorial. Christmas wreaths may also be placed. They will be removed around the first week of January each year. Items of memorabilia temporarily left on a grave immediately after a burial will be removed along with floral tributes not less than 10 days after the burial.
At the sanctum vaults, a facility for one flower container has been provided. No additional vases or other items will be permitted on the vault, in the adjacent shrub beds or on paved areas.
The council retains all ownership rights to the leased burial and cremation plots.
The following are not allowed:
All non-regulation items will be removed without notice.
