Citizenship ceremonies

We offer both private individual and group citizenship ceremonies which take place weekly.

Citizenship ceremonies

If you have received a letter from the Home Office confirming that your application for citizenship has been successful you will need to wait until you have received a Home Office invitation advising you that you may book your ceremony. Once you have received your invitation letter, please wait 5 working days before booking.

From 9 to 17 December 2024 we are unable to take bookings over the phone for new group ceremonies as we are moving to a new system that will allow citizens to book their ceremony online. You can still book a private ceremony during this time, by emailing citizenship.ceremonies@croydon.gov.uk.

Ceremony requirements

Attending a citizenship ceremony is the final step on the journey to becoming a British citizen.

Full details of ceremonies are available on the Home Office website. You must attend a ceremony if you are over 18 years old and living in the UK.

Children under 18 years old do not have to attend a but are encouraged to do so.

Types of ceremony

We offer 2 types of ceremonies:
