Support a main Shared Lives carer

If you have a family member or friend who is a main carer of a vulnerable adult, you can apply to help them by becoming an additional supporting carer.

How to become a supporting Shared Lives carer

You will support the main carer by:

  • providing personal care, such as washing and dressing
  • providing additional emotional support
  • giving money management advice
  • accompanying the person to extra medical and other appointments

You will help provide a consistent, quality service and care to the individual or family the main carer is providing for.

How to apply

To apply, you will need to provide:

  • full employment history since leaving school
  • names and contact details of 3 people who can give you a reference – one must be your employer
