London Borough of Croydon

The Disabled persons Freedom Pass allows free travel on most public transport services in London and free bus travel nationally for qualifying disabled people. With the pass, most National Rail services in London are also free after 9.30am on weekdays and all day Saturday, Sunday and public holidays, but a few exceptions apply.

Applying for a new pass

Use the Freedom Pass calculator to find out when you become eligible for free travel. You can apply up to 14 days before your eligible date.

Apply for an Older persons Freedom Pass online, or download an application form, print it and return it in the post.

Assistance completing your form is available from any Croydon library.

Pass renewals

Older Persons Freedom Passes are issued for up to 5 years. Most passes expiring on 31 March 2020 will be automatically renewed and sent out from February 2020. You don't need to do anything to receive your new pass, unless you receive a letter from the Freedom Pass team. You should ensure you notify the Freedom Pass team if you have moved. Your pass will be cancelled if you do not respond to a letter from the Freedom Pass team that is sent to your old address.

Change of name or address

If you have a Freedom Pass and you have moved address or your details have changed since your first application or your renewal, you must tell the Freedom Pass team. The Freedom Pass team regularly checks addresses and may send you a letter. Your pass will be cancelled if you do not respond to a letter from the Freedom Pass team that is sent to your old address.
