The Mini London Marathon will take place on Sunday 3rd October 2021.

The Mini London Marathon

The Mini London Marathon will take place on Sunday 3rd October 2021. The course is a 2.6km road race stretching from Embankment to The Mall.

Croydon will be entering boys and girls teams into categories of Under 13, Under 15 and Under 17s.


Boys and Girls – Under 13 (School years 7 & 8 and some year 6)

Competitors who are aged 11 on 3 October 2021, or 12 on 31 August 2021 prior to the
commencement of the school year.

Boys and Girls – Under 15 (School years 9 & 10)

Competitors who are aged 13 or 14 on 31 August 2021 prior to the commencement of the
school year.

Men and Women – Under 17 (School years 11 &12)

Competitors who are aged 15 or 16 on 31 August 2021 prior to the commencement of the
school year.

How the team will be selected

Due to the cancellation of the Mini London Marathon 2020 places will be prioritised to athletes that were selected last year and are still eligible to compete in the Mini Marathon 2021.

  1. Selected athletes from Croydon Harriers Athletics Club or South London Harriers Athletics Club will be contacted by club team manager no later than Wednesday 22nd September 2021.
  2. Unattached or athletes from other clubs should contact sportandleisure@croydon.gov.uk to claim their place no later than Wednesday 22nd September 2021.

Expressions of Interest

Athletes should email sportsandleisure@croydon.gov.uk to express an interest in competing at the Mini
London Marathon 2021.

An athlete may represent Croydon if they either

  • Live in Croydon
  • Go to school in Croydon
  • Were born in Croydon


Anyone can register to participate regardless of experience or membership to an Athletics Club (please ensure you are currently fit enough to complete 2.6km).

To ensure that selection of athletes is fair and transparent, the Sport & Leisure Service team have set out the following selection criteria
 

  1. Priority for available places will be given to athletes that include evidence of a fast 1500 meter (or further) race performance achieved at a UK Athletics licensed event or Parkrun since 1st April 2021.
  2. Submission of performance must be received no later than 9am on Wednesday 22nd September.
  3. Any expressions of interest or race performances received after 22nd September 2021 will be allocated on a first come first served basis subject to availability.

The Croydon Council, Sport & Leisure Service team reserves the right to exercise discretion when selecting the team. As a result, the above criteria does not guarantee selection.  Those who have been selected or placed on the reserve list will be notified by Friday 24th September 2021.
