Licence - special treatment
Premises offering special treatments such as massage, acupuncture, manicure, piercing and tattooing, sauna and light, electric or vapour treatments must have a licence.
This is a requirement of the London Local Authorities Act 1991.

Members of some professional associations and organisations are exempt from special treatment licensing. Click on the download for a full list of exempted bodies and treatments.
How to apply for a licence
The licence is valid for one year and operates from 1 April to 31 March. However, you may apply for a licence at any time during that period.
To renew an existing licence by debit/credit card, click on the "Shop for it” link to your right.
If you are applying for a licence for the first time please download and complete the application form and send it to the address below. Do not send any money with your form as the fee will be apportioned in accordance with the date you apply.
You are required to send a copy of the completed form to the Police and Fire Authorities. Their addresses can be found on the front of the application form.
You will be contacted by a licensing officer who will make arrangements to carry out an inspection of your premises in accordance with the licensing conditions.
