General Election 2024:
You will need to bring a photo ID to vote at a polling station in the General Election on 4 July.
Copies of birth, death, marriage, or civil partnership certificates can be ordered online.
We have currently suspended processing copy certificates issued before 2008, due to an issue with our registers vault.
Any orders received after 29 April 2024 will be refunded. This will take around 20 working days.
All orders received up to and including 29 April 2024 will be produced. This will take around 6 weeks from the date the order was received.

There is a different process for ordering adoption, citizenship, naturalisation and gender recognition certificates.
Certificates cost £12.50 each, plus £3 (recorded delivery of up to 5 certificates).
You must contact the local authority in which the event occurred or apply for a certificate – GOV.UK.
You can only order from the General Register Office – GOV.UK
