Gambling premises licences

If you’re a premises-based gambling business in Croydon, for example an adult gaming centre, entertainment centre or bingo hall, you need to apply for a gambling premises licence.

Types of gambling premises licence

There are five different premises licences:

  • adult gaming centre premises licence – if you operate Category B, C and D gaming machines then you must have a premises licence
  • betting licence (bookmaker)
  • betting track premises licence – if you run a sports track or stadium where betting takes place you must have a premises licence
  • bingo premises licence
  • family entertainment centre premises licence – if you operate Category C and D gaming machines then you must have a premises licence

There's a different process if you're transferring a licence or your want to apply to vary a premises licence.

If your premise is under construction

You can apply for a personal statement while your premise is being constructed, extended or altered for the purpose of being used for one or more licensable activities.

Obtaining a provisional statement does not convert into a premises licence once the construction is complete.
