Licence summary

If you are the named designated premises supervisor on a premises licence or are responsible for the sale or supply of alcohol in a licensed premises and you live in the borough of Croydon, you must apply for a personal licence under the Licensing Act 2003.

Licence length

The licence will be issued with a ten year date, however the licence does not expire after this time. Once the ten year date passes, you do not need to take any action. The licence remains permanently valid due to the Deregulation Act 2015.

How to apply for a new licence

If you are applying for a new licence please download the application form and disclosure form at the bottom of this page. Applicants should also read the guidance document before submitting an application.

To help you, there is a list of training companies and consultants available as a download. The list of the approved signatories whom you may use to sign your photographs is also available as a download.

The original qualification certificate and a valid Basic Disclosure check (DBS) which is less than one month old should also be submitted with your application; photocopies of documents are not acceptable.

Note if a third party, agency/solicitor etc. has applied for the DBS check on the applicant's behalf and the DBS check does not show the residential address once issued, we ask you to forward us proof of address, bank statement / utility bill / council tax bill / driving licence, to confirm that you live within the Croydon borough.

Send all the above documents together with a cheque for £37 and two passport sized photographs, (one of which must be certified on the back by one of the signatories listed below) to the address below. Cheques should be made payable to Croydon Council.

Application evaluation process

Once all your documents have been received and processed, we will return your original documents to you together with your badge and paper licence.

Renewal of personal licences

Due to the introduction of recent legislation (Deregulation Act 2015) you are no longer required to renew your personal licence on its expiry.

You do not need to take any action unless you change your name or address or your badge is lost, stolen or damaged then please follow the guidance below.

Change of name or address

If you change your home address or name, complete the form below and return it together with the fee of £10.50, one passport sized photograph signed by an approved signatory, your plastic card and paper licence summary to the licensing team at the address below. A replacement badge will be issued to you.

Lost, stolen or damaged badges

The police will no longer issue a crime reference number for the loss or theft of a personal licence.

Please complete the relevant form below, ensuring that you state on the form where and when the licence was lost or stolen from and return it to the licensing team at the address below, together with the fee of £10.50 and one passport sized photograph signed by an approved signatory. We will issue a replacement licence to you.
