Croydon Local Plan review

The review will update the vision and strategy for Croydon’s growth and set out how the council will continue to deliver much-needed new homes, jobs and community facilities.

Latest news

The revised Local Plan is progressing, but further changes were needed following the appointment in May 2022 of the Executive Mayor, Jason Perry and subsequent approval of his Business Plan (2022-2026). The updated version of the revised Local Plan now takes account of the Mayor’s Business Plan and addresses concerns raised on the previous ‘Regulation 19’ (which took place January-February 2022).

The revised Local Plan has been approved for publication at the Cabinet Meeting on 27 March 2024. Representations (in accordance with Regulation 19 of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004) will soon be invited. This is planned to take place post the elections in May for a six-week period (final dates to be advised).

At the Full Council meeting on 17 April 2024 approval is sought for the submission of the revised Local Plan (following the conclusion of a statutory Regulation 19 consultation) to the Secretary of State for independent examination.

Find out more on the Regulation 19 consultation page, please note there is currently no live consultation.

Croydon Local Plan Partial Review

The partial review of Croydon’s Local Plan commenced in 2019.

The first stage of the review also known as ‘Regulation 18’ sought feedback from the community with a period of consultation referred to as the Issues and Options consultation. This took place between November 2019 and January 2020.

A second stage of the review known as ‘Regulation 19’ was undertaken between January and February 2022 to provide an opportunity for representations to be made on the amendments to the local plan before it is examined by a planning inspector. The council received over 800 responses which have been reviewed and taken into account.

Download a summary of the representations received in response to the Regulation 18 consultation.

Thank you to everyone who participated and shared feedback to date. All representations made will be used by the Plan Making team to shape the revised Local Plan to help us deliver the best plan possible for Croydon.
