Summer activities in Croydon

This summer we have a range of activities for children and young people to enjoy.

Kids swim for £1

Enjoy a fantastic value swimming offer for children under 16.

Dates: Everyday for the school summer holidays

Time: Before 10am

Venue: Local swimming pools participating in 'Swim for All' sessions

Cost: £1

Booking in advance is recommended. Visit the Better website for information on how to book at your local pool. 

 

Summer Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme 

Sixty-seven clubs across the borough will provide fun activity sessions to suit different ages. Free, nutritious and tasty food will also be provided.

Dates: 24 July to 25 August 

Age range: 4 to 16 year olds in receipt of benefits such as free school meals

Parents and carers of eligible children will be sent an e-voucher and booking link via email or mobile text from their child’s school to register on the holiday activities platform and book a space at a club near you. If you do not receive a voucher code, please contact your child’s school.

Summer Reading Challenge

Get ‘Ready, Set, Read’ for this year’s Summer Reading Challenge! The Reading Agency has teamed up with the Youth Sport Trust to inspire children to discover the power of sport and play through reading. Children can enjoy plenty of brilliant books and collect free online badges. The challenge is the perfect summer activity to keep young minds active over the holidays, and every child who completes the challenge will be entered into a free prize draw!

Dates: 8 July to 9 September

Age range: 4 to 11 year olds

Venue: Visit your local library to find out more and sign up.

As part of our summer celebrations, there will be lots of free fun activities for the family:

  • join Cat and Hutch for library performances and workshops this August
  • find the giraffes around Croydon town centre as part of Croydon Stands Tall art trail
  • look out for events with Croydon Museum’s Croydon Music Heritage Trail

Youth engagement summer programme

A full programme of sports, arts, crafts, gaming, music and more! Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Dates: 1 to 18 August (Tuesdays to Fridays)

Time: 10am to 4pm

Age range: 8 to 16 year olds

Venue: Samuel Coleridge Taylor Centre, 194 Selhurst Road, South Norwood, SE25 6XX
