London Borough of Croydon

Croydon Library will be starting a Select & Collect service from 20th July

Our libraries buildings closed to the public on 20th March and we have been busy delivering a successful digital library to our new and existing members. With access to over 40,000 e-books, audio books, magazines and newspapers we have been able to provide our members with a large collect of content to get them through lock down. However, we understand that for some members there is nothing like having a physical book to hold.

We are offering a new Select & Collect service for our members from 20 July

New Select & Collect Service

From 13 July you will be able to place your book reservations online, by email or on the phone (leaving a message). Collection can be from 20 July. We will contact you with a suitable collection date and time from one of the following libraries:

  • Central Library
  • Selsdon Library
  • Coulsdon Library
  • Ashburton Library
  • Thornton Heath Library

Collections

Your chosen books will be provided in a bag having been quarantined for 72 hours, following government guidance.

Returns

You can return your books to your local library where they will be quarantined before being available for selection.

Not a Croydon library member? Sign up online.

Appointment based service

Later in the year a time limited appointment only service will be available offering:

  • access to computers
  • Quick choice borrowing

We will not be able to offer:

  • printed newspapers and magazines
  • casual seating areas
  • meeting room bookings
  • toilets
  • events and programmes such as children’s regular craft and story time sessions will continue to be offered online

This phased approach is to ensure that the safety of our staff and members is maintained. It is important that we can adapt our offer if the situation changes so please check this page regularly.

Overdue books

Some of you will have books that you have not been able to return due to the lock down restrictions. No fines will be issued for the lock down period and all return dates have been extended to 1st September 2020.

We look forward to welcoming you back to our libraries and we thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation as we all adapt to these new ways of operating.

Our digital library remains open 24/7, it includes thousands of eBooks, eAudio, newspapers, magazines and training courses.
