Resident involvement activity
Find out what the resident involvement team have been doing recently - the April-June activity update is now available, and provides a brief update of our engagement activities. The latest performance report (April 17) is also available. Both reports can be found in the Downloads section below.
Last autumn a survey was sent to over 4000 council tenants to ask how satisfied they were with their homes and estates and the various housing services they receive. Just under 1600 tenants completed the survey and the report, which was written by Acuity who carried out the survey, can be read here. The findings are being used by housing managers to help improve future services and are also being used for benchmarking with other organisations.
Residents’ Christmas Tea
Over 40 residents recently celebrated the year's achievements with Councillor Manju Shahul-Hameed and officers from housing services. The resident involvement team invited residents who had taken part throughout the year to thank them for their contribution.
The event, which was sponsored by Axis, repairs contractor, included speeches from Councillor Shahul-Hameed, divisional directors, Stephen Tate and Mark Meehan, and chair of the tenant and leaseholder panel, Marilyn Smithies. There was also a presentation for Tim Nash, resident involvement coordinator, who is leaving the Council at the end of December after many years’ service with the team.
We are looking for tenants and leaseholders to join the following initiatives: mystery shopping, housing scrutiny panel, housing complaints panel, service improvement groups, neighbourhood voice. There is more information available on the page for each scheme or contact the resident involvement team, details below.
Resident involvement e-newsletter
The resident involvement team are now producing a bi-monthly e-newsletter called Involve. Members of the housing sounding board who have provided an email address automatically receive this newsletter. If you would like to add your name to the mailing list you can do so on the subscribe web page.
Join the tenant & leaseholder panel
The tenant & leaseholder panel reviews the council's housing services policies, procedures and strategies.
The panel's membership is made up of tenants and leaseholders from across the borough. Councillors and senior housing officers also attend to present reports and listen to residents' views on the housing service. Topics discussed range from rent setting, anti-social behaviour polices, the repairs improvement programme and estate cleaning.
Applications to join the panel are welcome from Croydon Council tenants and leaseholders. Please read the person specification and complete the self assessment if you would like to be considered for this role. View the agendas and minutes for meetings.
