Croydon Council has recently carried out extra COVID-19 testing in two parts of the borough: New Addington and Fieldway, and South Norwood and Thornton Heath. Extra testing in both areas is now complete - thank you to everyone who has taken part.

All positive COVID-19 tests from our extra testing will be sent for genomic sequencing. This will help us to understand the spread of COVID-19 variants locally.

Please note that there is currently no evidence that these variants cause more severe illness, or that the regulated vaccine would not protect against them.

We will continue to work with Public Health England and NHS Test and Trace to monitor variants and the need for any extra testing in our borough. As before, if residents in any part of the borough have coronavirus symptoms, they should book a test at GOV.UK, via the NHS COVID-19 app or call 119.

If you live or work in Croydon and don’t have symptoms, you can get a free rapid Covid-19 test at one of our local asymptomatic testing sites.
