These term dates apply to most Croydon local authority schools. Some schools have different holiday and term dates, in particular, voluntary aided schools.

Term dates 2023 to 2024

In 2023/24 pupils should attend for 190 days (or 380 half sessions).
Academies, free, foundation and voluntary aided schools have similar dates, but it is recommended that you check with individual schools.

Term one: Monday 4 September to Friday 20 October 2023.

Half-term holiday: Monday 23 October to Friday 27 October 2023.

Term two: Monday 30 October to Thursday 21 December 2023.

Christmas and New Year holiday: Friday 22 December 2023 to Friday 5 January 2024.

Term three: Monday 8 January to Friday 9 February 2024.

Half-term holiday: Monday 12 February to Friday 16 February 2024.

Term four: Monday 19 February to Thursday 28 March 2024.

Easter holiday: Friday 29 March to Friday 12 April 2024.

Term five: Monday 15 April to Friday 24 May 2024

May Day bank holiday on 6 May.

Half-term holiday: Monday 27 May to Friday 31 May 2024

Spring bank holiday on 27 May.

Term six: Monday 3 June to Wednesday 24 July 2024.

Term dates 2024 to 2025

School terms and holiday dates are shown here for the school year beginning in
September 2024. These dates apply to all community nursery, primary, secondary and
special schools.

In 2024/25 pupils should attend for 190 days (or 380 half sessions).
Schools which close for local elections are required to extend the summer term or coincide it with an 'inset' day. 

Academies, free and voluntary aided schools have similar dates, but it is recommended that you check with individual schools.

Term one

Term time: Monday 2 September to Friday 18 October 2024.

Half-term holiday: Monday 21 October to Friday 25 October 2024.

Term two

Term time: Monday 28 October to Friday 20 December 2024.

Christmas and New Year holiday: Monday 23 December 2024 to Friday 3 January 2025.

Term three

Term time: Monday 6 January to Friday 14 February 2025.

Half-term holiday: Monday 17 February to Friday 21 February 2025.

Term four

Term time: Monday 24 February to Friday 4 April 2025.

Easter holiday: Monday 7 April to Monday 21 April 2025.

Term five

Term time: Monday 22 April to Friday 23 May 2025 (except May Day bank holiday on 5 May 2025).

Half-term holiday: Monday 26 May to Friday 30 May 2025 (spring bank holiday on 26 May).

Term six

Term time: Monday 2 June to Tuesday 22 July 2025

School training days

Most schools also have five training (INSET) days in each academic year when pupils don't need to attend. Check with individual schools for these dates.

Other reasons for schools not being open

Schools may close for various reasons including bad weather.
