Support for SENCOS

 

SENCO BRIEFINGS 2018-2019

Primary and secondary briefings are held termly to provide:
 

  • Updates on local and national developments in SEND
  • Forum to share best practices
  • Learn about new initiatives to support inclusion and outcome for pupils with SEND
  • Opportunity for peer networking.
  • Opportunity to explore in more depth and topical issues.

 

The sessions are jointly led by Octavo Improvement and Development Service, Octavo Educational Psychologist Service and representatives from Croydon LA Inclusion and SEND Service.

 

Guest speakers are often invited to present at the sessions.

 

Charges:  Annual subscription for three briefings for up to two members of staff  £356, otherwise the charge is £136 a session.

Croydon Primary Cluster Groups

The four regional cluster groups meet at least termly to offer opportunity for SENCOs to discuss and share best practice, new initiatives and any emerging issues. The groups provide opportunity for peer networking and support for SENCOS.

Guest speakers from local services and other agencies are often invited to share information on certain topics.

Croydon Dyslexia Association

ADHD – just a way of excusing the behaviour of naughty small boys’

Talk by Garret Smyth, founder of the central London adult ADHD support group about how ADHD is diagnosed in children and adults, what it is often mistaken for (a lot of things), its comorbidities (such as dyslexia), ways of treating and managing it.
