Croydon Virtual School

Croydon Virtual School is a group of education and social care professionals, responsible for the progress of the children we look after.

Virtual School

The Virtual School is not a teaching institution. It is a model we use to provide services and support for the education of children in care and a constructive challenge to those providing the services.

The role of Croydon Virtual School

It is not a replacement for an education setting. Children in Croydon's care are being educated across a large number of schools and receive support with their education from the age of 2 to 19 years old. They are automatically eligible to receive direct support from the Croydon Virtual School team.

The aim is to improve the educational progress and achievements of all children looked after by Croydon. This includes children that have been placed in schools in other authorities.

We want to make sure that the education of every child looked after by Croydon is valued and supported.

Croydon Virtual School works closely with children looked after by Croydon, together with:

  • teachers
  • social workers
  • foster carers

Previously looked after children

If you're a parent or carer of adopted or previously looked after children you can receive advice or guidance from Croydon Virtual School. You can contact us about this using the details at the bottom of this page

Pupil premium grant (PPG) + funding

Croydon Virtual School is responsible for allocating and monitoring PPG+ funding to schools.

PPG+ funding is allocated by the Virtual School Head and is used to raise the educational attainment of disadvantaged pupils of all abilities to help them reach their potential.

A set amount is calculated each financial year. For more information on PPG+ please contact us using the contact details below.
