Keeping Croydon safe


By following these simple steps you can help stop the spread of coronavirus and keep Croydon safe.

  • Hands - Wash your hands regularly with soap and water or use hand sanitiser/wipes when out and about.

  • Face - Wear a face covering in enclosed public spaces (this is currently a rule in shops and on public transport).

  • Space - Keep your distance – you are less likely to pick up the virus if you are not close to people. Where possible stay 2 metres away from others.

  • Get tested - If you or anyone in your household has symptoms of coronavirus, no matter how mild, self isolate immediately and book a free test on the NHS website.

What are the symptoms of Coronavirus?

  • a new, continuous cough

  • high temperature

  • change in sense of smell or taste.

If you have symptoms

Start isolating immediately if you have symptoms of coronavirus

  1. Do not leave home (unless it is to get tested).

  2. Book a free test on the NHS website or call 119 between 7am and 11pm.

Steps to book a coronavirus test - isolate then book a test online

If your test is positive

  • You and your household must isolate for 10 days in total.

  • NHS Test and Trace will ask you to share information about recent close contact.

If your test is negative

  • You can stop isolating if you feel well.

  • Your household can stop isolating immediately.

If the NHS Test and Trace service needs to contact you:

  • Text messages will come from 'NHStracing' and calls will come from 0300 0135000.

  • Children under 18 will be contacted by phone and asked for their parent or guardian’s permission to continue the call.

  • You will be asked to sign in to the NHS Test and Trace contact tracing website.

The NHS Test and Trace service will not ask about:

  • Bank details or payments.

  • Details of any other accounts, such as social media.

  • Setting up a password or PIN number over the phone.

  • Calling a premium rate number, such as those starting 09 or 087.

  • Anyone visiting you at home.
