LGBT History Month is celebrated in February
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender History Month is celebrated in February each year. It celebrates the lives and achievements of the LGBT community in the UK. LGBT History Month also aims to promote tolerance and raise awareness of the prejudices faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.
Each year has a different theme. The theme for LGBT History Month 2019 is ‘History II: Peace, Reconciliation, and Activism’, celebrating the official end of the First World War and marking the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. The Croydon Council Staff LGBT+ Allies network group had a display on the 8th floor of the Happy Café in Bernard Weatherill House, and the LGBT community group had a display in Croydon Central Library for all of February.
