Information about the Covenant

The Armed Forces Covenant

In May 2011, the government enshrined the Armed Forces Covenant into law. The principles state that we must recognise the unique nature of Service, ensure that there is no disadvantage, e.g. in accessing public services as a result of Service, and allow special treatment where justified, such as in the case of the bereaved or injured.

The Armed Forces Community Covenant

The Armed Forces Community Covenant is the local level manifestation of the Armed Forces Covenant and all local authorities have signed up and pledged their support for it. It aims to meet the needs of Armed Forces communities, by enabling public services, charities, businesses, communities and individuals to work with the military to provide the most appropriate advice, support and services.
