SLaM and Empowering Parents, Empowering Communities (EPEC)

Empowering Parents, Empowering Communities (EPEC) is a proven method of prevention and early intervention that helps children and families get the very best start in life. EPEC parenting courses are led by local parent facilitators who have completed accredited EPEC training and the parenting programmes combine the latest developmental science and theory with evidence based parenting strategies and methods.

Courses

You can access two types of courses.

Baby & Us

Baby & Us is a free course for parents with babies aged 0-8 months

Session include:

  • following your baby’s cues
  • how to feel more confident in your role as a parent
  • learning to communicate responsively with your baby
  • building a good attachment between you and your baby
  • an opportunity to develop friendships with other parents
  • games, singing, physical touch and play to have fun with your baby
  • understanding your baby’s temperament
  • thinking about your relationships within the family and how these affect you and your baby
  • support to understand your baby’s crying/ sleeping / feeding, and the practicalities of your baby’s routine

Being a Parent

Being a Parent a free course for mums, dads and carers of children aged 2 to 5 years old.

This 8 week course helps parents learn practical communication skills for everyday and bring up confident, happy and cooperative children.
