Registration summary

You will need to apply for an auction registration if you intend to sell goods by competitive bidding from the following types of premises:

  • halls, rooms, stalls, marquees, vehicles;
  • sites which are used or hired out for one day sales; and
  • any premises or land where goods are sold by auction.

The registration is a one-off application and is valid indefinitely

How to apply

If you are applying for a new registration you can apply online.

If you prefer to apply by post please download the application form and once completed send it to the licensing team at the address below together with a cheque for £246. Cheques should be made payable to Croydon Council.

Once your application is received you may be contacted by a member of the licensing team to discuss your application.

Auction notification

If you already hold a registration and want to tell us about an upcoming auction please download the notification form below. The completed form should be sent to the licensing team at the address below at least seven days before the event.

Will tacit consent apply?

No. The registration will be issued once the registration conditions have been complied with. Click on the download below to view the 'registration conditions'.

Failed application redress

If you wish to appeal against a decision you may appeal to the Croydon Magistrates Court, Barclay Road, Croydon CR9 3NG, within 21 days of the notice of the decision.

If you wish to appeal against a decision you may appeal to the Croydon Magistrates Court, Barclay Road, Croydon CR9 3NG, within 21 days of the notice of the decision.
