London Borough of Croydon

Autism is a lifelong developmental disability that affects how people perceive the world and interact with others. It is a condition with a wide ranging degree of severity. Some people with autism are able to live fully independent lives but others may have accompanying learning disabilities and require a range of lifetime specialist support.

People with autism may also be over or under-sensitive to sounds, touch, tastes, smells, light or colours. There are more than 700,000 people with Autism in the UK.

Everyone with the condition shares a difficulty in making sense of the world.

Chatsworth Hall Autism Services

The Autism service is part of a range of services delivered within Croydon’s adult day operations services.

The Autism service offers a range of tailored support options and solutions for adults of varying ages on the autism spectrum, their families and the wider community.

Support from the experienced staff team is developed with an understanding of the challenges faced by individuals on the autism spectrum and the team will work to develop strategies with those they support that will increase confidence and independence and other identified outcomes.

The service has close links with other support networks such as Gateway employment support services, outreach support and the autism family support group. Autism awareness training is also offered by an experienced staff member and a young man with autism in a unique personal half day session.

Chatsworth Hall Autism Service is currently based at Chatsworth Hall, 1 Chatsworth Rd. Croydon. CR0 1HE.
