Speed reduction and traffic calming
Gateways are used at the entrance to residential or pedestrian areas and indicate to drivers that the nature of the road has changed to encourage them to slow down.
Usually, gateways are a combination of warning signs, changes in surface material, texture or colour, speed tables or entry treatments.
