London Borough of Croydon

Speed limits

Enforcement cameras to detect speeding and traffic signal violations (for example, running red lights), have been placed at various locations across the borough. They are used where there is a high level of accidents resulting from speeding or disobeying red lights.

Legislation now permits the use of cameras for enforcement of other traffic offences such as non compliance with bus lanes regulations.

The management, administration and decisions regarding the placement of traffic lights and speed enforcement cameras rest with the Metropolitan Police and the London Safety Camera Partnership, not the council.
