Lighting - street lights
- Introduction

- Service level response times

Routine maintenance
All street lights, signs, beacons and bollards are regularly checked to confirm they are lit at night.
In the north of the borough the failed lamps will be replaced immediately after they are found. If the outage cannot be repaired then it is repaired on a second daytime visit within five working days.
In the south of the borough all outages are recorded at night for repairs to usually be carried out the next working day.
Emergencies
We will attend to all emergencies within one hour of the fault being reported. For example:
- damaged lighting columns, signs and bollards
- electrical safety issues such as a lantern hanging by its wires
- network faults where an area has no street lighting
Faults which cannot be repaired within a week
Sometimes, a fault cannot be repaired quickly, for example if an underground supply cable has to be repaired by the electricity company.
Generally, in such cases, we will put a coloured band around the lighting column to show that we are aware of the fault. The colour of the band indicates the general nature of the fault.
- Red Band - indicates dead electrical supply - target repair time: 28 days (for regional electricity company to attend)
- Blue Band - indicates service cable fault - target repair time: 28 days
- Yellow Band - indicates lamp fault - target repair time: within 10 days of report
- Black Band - indicates control gear fault - target repair time: with 10 days of report
- White Band - indicates damaged post/pole which needs to be replaces - target repair time: 21 days
