On street parking - know your restrictions
Pavement and verge parking
The London-wide ban on pavement and verge parking is strictly enforced, particularly where such parking causes difficulties for pedestrians or damage to surfaces.
A review has been carried out to establish which borough roads will allow pavement or verge parking. Selection is based on whether there is sufficient off-street parking and if parking on the carriageway will cause an obstruction.
Signs indicate where pavement or verge parking is permitted, and white boxes show how far on to the pavement you may park.
It is illegal to park with any part of your car outside the white boxes, or where there are no boxes or signs indicating footway parking is allowed.
