Disabled parking permits are also known as blue badges.
Some parking bays are reserved for vehicles displaying blue badges. These are marked with white boxes.
Blue badge holders are allowed to park free of charge and without time limit
- in any permitted parking place or paid-for parking bay
- in limited-period waiting boxes
- on red routes in specially signed and marked spaces.
Blue badge holders are allowed to park free of charge for up to three hours
- in the surface car park reserved for blue badge holders in Poplar Walk
- in reserved spaces in the town centre multi-storey car parks
- on any single or double yellow line, except where there is
- a loading and unloading ban
- a stopping restriction
- a footway parking ban.
Blue badge holders are also eligible for a discount on the Central London Congestion Charge.
