General information
As part of the government's target to reduce child casualties, we have initiated a programme of schemes to improve road safety for children travelling to and from schools and in the areas immediately surrounding schools.
The proposed schemes are aimed at encouraging the use of other modes of travelling to and from school by promoting cycling, walking and the use of public transport rather than the car, where and when possible. To achieve this, we are committed to providing Safer Routes to Schools and School Safety Zones - the latter being mainly concerned with safety outside schools.
Public consultations have been held for schools in the following areas:
- Norbury Manor - Norbury Manor Business and Enterprise College
- Thornton Heath - St James the Great School
- Beulah Hill - St Joseph College
- Selsdon - Selsdon Nursery and Primary School
