Supporting People funds a wide range of supported housing services. This includes housing support services like sheltered housing, homeless hostels, floating support, womens refuges and supported lodgings. These services help lots of different kinds of people to live independently.
Some of these services provide long term support to vulnerable people who will always need some kind of help to maintain a tenancy. Other services are short term services to help vulnerable homeless people to resettle or to prevent people from becoming homeless in the first place.
Most of these services are run by housing associations and other independent organisations. Some of them are run directly by the Council.
If you want to find out about specific supported housing services in Croydon please follow the Croydon Supporting People Service Directory.
If you want to find out about supported housing services in other areas please follow the link to the national supporting people directory.
Both of these directories are regularly updated.
The Council's Supporting People Team monitors standards in supported housing in Croydon. We make sure that supported housing services help people to live independently and safely in their home. If you have any comments to make about any of these services we would like to hear from you.
The Supporting People Team also co-ordinates development of new supported housing services in Croydon. We have written a strategy which describes what kinds of housing support will be needed in Croydon in the future. Please see the link 'Supporting People Strategy'.
