Two of the major regeneration developments which will transform the heart of Central Croydon:

Croydon Gateway

We are working with Arrowcroft Group plc to build the Croydon Gateway development on the 12 acre site next to East Croydon railway station. A state of the art 12,500 seat arena will attract world class performers and international sporting events. Business conferences and prestigious dinners will also be held there, and community activities encouraged through the development of a bespoke community plan.  The arena will both stimulate and diversify the evening economy of the town centre.  This in turn will reinforce Croydon’s cultural status and reinvigorate its role as an outstanding centre for business, leisure and shopping.

In addition to the arena, the proposals include:

  • A mix of shops, restaurants, cafes, bars and a new 9,425 sqm food store.
  • 640,000 sq. ft. of quality offices to meet needs of expanding and new businesses.
  • 874 new homes - both affordable and private with landmark tower.
  • A health and fitness centre and a community health centre.
  • An attractive pedestrian plaza.
  • A replacement Warehouse theatre.

The public inquiry into the case for a compulsory purchase order to enable the Arrowcroft scheme to proceed concluded in November 2007.  The Inspector’s decision is not expected before June 2008.

Park Place

The proposed redevelopment of Park Place by Minerva and Lend Lease will create a one million square foot destination with over 130 shops, cafes and restaurants, anchored by a new department store.

Park place will revitalise the town centre and create a new focus for Central Croydon. Innovative improvements will see Queen's Gardens completely re-modelled, together with the construction of a fully integrated public transport hub to include a new bus interchange and tram stop.

These improvements are part of a complete Sustainability Business Plan which is to be developed for Park Place in partnership with the community and retailers, including environmental, economic and social initiatives.
