Forthcoming Supplementary Planning Guidance - SPDs

Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs) are non-statutory planning guidance within Croydon's Local Development Framework (LDF). The documents are prepared to supplement the policies and proposals of the adopted Croydon Replacement Unitary Development Plan (UDP) and the London Plan, which together form the development plan for the area. They are being prepared in line with the timetable set out in the Local Development Scheme (LDS).

Improving Air Quality in Croydon SPD

Croydon Council is consulting on a new draft SPD to help drive down emissions of air pollution from all forms of new development. While it is recognised that industrial plants can be a major contributor, it is less well known that new shops, offices and homes have energy demands that also create pollution. In addition, extra traffic generated by new development can worsen air quality. Have your say on this important issue and help to ensure that there is a cleaner, healthier environment for everyone.

A Sustainability Appraisal (SA) of the draft SPD has also been published. The SA is a form of assessment which must be carried out for all SPDs and proposes sustainability objectives and indicators covering key social, environmental and economic matters that could influence the standards of new housing development in the borough.

The draft SPD and its SA are being consulted upon from Friday 7 November to Friday 19 December. You can view these, and submit your comments, via the Public consultation associated link. You can also send your comments to Clive Simmonds or Wendy Bell (details below) or submit them in writing at all borough libraries and at the temporary Taberner House reception point.
