Types of planning permission

Full planning permission

This is applicable where full details of a proposed development can be submitted and must always be obtained for a change of use.

Outline planning permission

This establishes that the principle of a particular building is acceptable before details such as design, landscaping and siting are submitted. This is known as reserved matters. Such a permission will need to be followed by the Approval of Reserved Matters before development can proceed.
