Pre-application advice
Technical officers provide the first line of contact, with planning officers as back up if required.
The officer will give advice to customers seeking confirmation as to the type of application required for their proposal, for example, a planning application or lawful development certificate. This will be based on the information the customer provides.
The officer will give assistance to adjoining occupiers and residents groups who need assistance in understanding plans that have been submitted or query information that has accompanied the application.
Where possible, the officer will give advice to customers who seek an informal opinion as to the chances of their proposal gaining planning permission. This service will be limited to householder applications, changes of use and minor commercial applications and will only be available between 9am and 1pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Please note: customers should be in reception no later than 12.45pm.
The officer's information will be based on the Unitary Development Plan and the supplementary guidance notes. The customer will be required to provide the following information for these categories of development:
- changes of use will require:
- a site plan
- details of existing use
- details of proposed use
- extensions, alterations and adverts will require:
- drawings showing existing works
- drawings showing proposed works
- photographs of the site and surrounding area
Customers with more complex enquiries such as housing plots and redevelopment proposals will have to submit their proposals in writing, with relevant plans, to the planning officer for a written reply to be sent within 20 working days.
The Duty Planning Officer will not be available on Monday 29 September or Friday 10 October 2008.
