Croydon Building Control - services and commitments

Croydon Building Control is responsible for making sure that buildings and structures in Croydon do not present a danger to people in or near them.

Our professionally qualified surveyors regularly visit and assess potentially dangerous structures. Where necessary our surveyors have the power to take immediate action to make structures safe.

How we work

Our service is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year and our objective is to visit sites within 2 hours of a complaint being made.

We treat all complaints about dangerous structures in the strictest confidence. If you advise us of a building or structure that you think is unsafe, we will not pass your details to the owner of the property.

How to report a dangerous structure

If you think that a building or structure is dangerous you can use our report form (see 'Do it online'). To help us to process the report more quickly, please provide as much information as possible, including the address, location and nature of the danger.

Reporting a major structural failure out of hours

If you believe that people are at serious risk of an imminent major structural failure out of hours (between 5:30pm and 8am, at the weekend or on a public holiday), please call our emergency number: 020 8688 1700.
