Croydon Building Control - services and commitments
We aim to:
- provide help and advice on any matter related to a Building Regulation application prior to and during the deposit of plans with the council.
- register and acknowledge each valid application within three working days, advising you of your rights in our acknowledgement.
- advise you within three working days if your application is invalid, indicating what is required for validation.
- ensure that you receive a decision on your plans within five weeks (or two months with your agreement) from the date of deposit.
- not just reject your plans if they don't comply, but provide you with a schedule listing the items of non-compliance within 15 working days.
- visit the site within 48 hours of receipt of a Building Notice (if commencement has been notified).
- accept telephone calls giving notice for inspection.
- provide a same-day response to requests for inspection received before 10am.
- provide technical advice by telephone as well as at the enquiry counter - WITHOUT an appointment - between 8:30am and 5pm.
- on 'relevant' premises, act as a 'One Stop Shop' in relation to fire precautions by consulting the Fire Authority about your application.
- after satisfactory completion of a job on site, automatically issue a completion certificate free of charge.
- provide a written response to customer complaints, giving a full explanation and detailing action to be taken as appropriate, within 10 working days.
- our Access Officer will provide help and guidance on all issues relating to access and facilities for people with disabilities as affected by building design and construction.
- liaise with other council services affected by your project.
