The validation of planning applications
As part of the drive to provide a quicker, more predictable and efficient planning service, the government has introduced a new standard electronic application form for applications for planning permission made under the Town and Country Planning system and Listed Building and Conservation Area consent regime (1APP). Alongside this, and to support the use of this standard application form, the government has also introduced new information requirements for the validation of planning applications by local planning authorities.
Different types and scale of application will require different levels of information and supporting documentation to be submitted. Under the new arrangements there is a national and a local list.
The national list sets out the statutory requirements for all applications. The local list comprises additional information which the council will require to validate an application.
The council is now consulting on its local list and is looking for feedback. This document will provide potential applicants with certainty as to the information required to be submitted with a planning application. This will enable the council to have all the necessary information and will minimise the need for further submission of additional information.
The draft document is shown below.
The consultation period is for six weeks ending on 22 August 2008.
