Families who lost their homes in the summer riots have received an early Christmas present from the Mayor of Croydon.
Councillor Graham Bass welcomed around 30 residents to a special ceremony at the Mayor's Parlour, in the town hall, Katharine Street, where he presented them with the proceeds of his fundraising campaign - Support Croydon's Recovery.
The Mayor launched the campaign in the aftermath of the riots of August 8 to help those affected by the unrest.
Councillor Bass said: "Like many local residents, and the wider public, I wanted to do my bit to help those in the borough who were directly affected by the terrible events of that night.
"I'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone for their generosity in giving to this worthy cause."
To date the campaign has raised over £9,000.
