Housing Fraud Amnesty

Illegally subletting your council home became a criminal offence from October 2013. Any
tenant found guilty of letting out their entire home could face a two-year prison sentence
and/or an unlimited fine.

During February, we are offering an amnesty. The council will not start legal proceedings against anyone who surrenders their tenancy between 1 February and 28 February. To end your tenancy, please contact your tenancy officer, the housing standards team or call the anti-fraud hotline:  0800 328 9270

If you suspect someone is illegally subletting their entire home, let us know. Your details will be kept confidential.

You can report fraud on line at www.croydon.gov.uk/housing fraud
