Moving into the borough

If you are moving into the London Borough of Croydon, you will need to let us know the date and address as soon as possible so that we can make sure you are only charged from the day that you take occupancy of your new home. You also need to register with Electoral Services to ensure that you are able to vote. There might be other services or areas you would like to be advised of your move into the borough; for example, you might want to let the Schools Admissions team know the details of your children who will be requiring education at a local school.

For any or all of the above, just click on Moving Home and within minutes you can complete and submit the form with the information being passed on to all required services and sections.

We also have some links to external websites which you might find useful. If you log onto Up my Street and input your new postcode you will be able to find details of local schools, restaurants, leisure facilities, transport, etc. You can also log onto I am Moving in order to arrange for utility companies to be advised of your change of address, as well as other companies and organisations, and for a letter forwarding service to be set up.

Moving within the borough

Similarly if you are moving house within the borough we will need details of the date of your move and the new address in order that our records can be amended and you will be billed at the correct address.

There might be other services or sections within the council that you wish to be advised of your move and you can request us to do that for you when you complete the Moving Home form.

Again, we have provided links for websites which might be useful to you. For example, if you sign up with I am Moving, you can arrange for all utility companies to be advised of your change of address, as well as other companies and organisations, and for a letter forwarding service to be set up. Or you could go to Up my Street, to find details of schools, restaurants, leisure facilities, transport, etc, in your new neighbourhood.

Moving out of the borough

Please let us know the date of your move - if only to make sure you stop getting bills for services you no longer receive - see the link to Moving Home. Providing us with this information will also help to make things easier for the incoming resident.

Once you have moved to your new home, it's a good idea to register immediately on the electoral roll of your new local authority as this will ensure that your name is deleted from our register.

For information provided by your new local authority check the list provided by DirectGov
