The Annual Open House London Event 15 - 16 September
Have you ever wondered what the view is like from the top of the Council's Taberner House Building? Now is your opportunity to find out.
Open House London Annual Event invites people to experience, explore, and understand architecture, design and the built environment. As London's largest architecture festival, each September over 600 buildings new and old all over London celebrate design excellence by opening their doors at no charge to the public, all within 48 hours!
Londoners are given direct access to the teams that design, construct, conserve and regenerate their environment.

Buildings open to the public Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 September
Taberner House
19-storey tower constructed for Council administration with amazing views of London and South-East.

Whitgift Almshouses
Tudor almshouses dating from 1596 and founded by the Archbishop of Canterbury John Whitgift. Chapel and Courtyard with original 16C clock.

Croydon Town Hall and Clocktower
Original Town Hall built 1895 (Hemnan), Clocktower development opened in 1993 (Tibbalds) and Museum of Croydon Galleries opened in 2006 (FAT).

Religious Society of Friends Adult School Hall
Constructed and opened in 1908, the building was designed for educational purposes. It is notable for its innovatory open roof structure and simplicity of design.

Croydon Palace
Grade I listed manor house and summer residence of the Archbishops of Canterbury from 13-18C. Medieval Great Hall with original roof, Great Chamber & Chapel, Tudor bedroom and Long Gallery.

St Michael & All Angels with St James
Grade I listed church, one of Pearson's last and finest. Brick-vaulted magnificent interior with lavish font, pulpit and fine Father Willis organ with Bodley casing. Comper Lady chapel.

Airport House
Grade II listed 1926 building in classical Retardaire style. It was one of the first purpose-built airport terminal buildings in the world. Closed in 1959.

Shirley Windmill
The present brick tower windmill was built in the mid 1850s to replace a post mill destroyed by fire. Now renovated to near-working condition, it is the only surviving windmill in Croydon.

Church of St Mary the Blessed Virgin
Founded in 11C, with recently restored Jacobean memorial c1615. Burial site of 5 Archbishops of Canterbury.
