Free access to PCs is available at all Croydon Libraries. You can use all the PCs to

  • access the internet
  • e-mail
  • use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • download and print documents
  • save to a floppy disk or USB memory stick

Scanning is available on selected PCs in all libraries. Please see the 'Library charges' page for the cost of disks and printing.

How to book a PC

All Croydon libraries have an automated booking system. To use it, you need a valid Croydon library card with a password set up. All libraries except Sanderstead, Bradmore Green and Broad Green have a kiosk machine that allows you to book a PC yourself. At Sanderstead, Bradmore Green and Broad Green, please ask staff to book you onto a PC.

Each session lasts for up to one hour and you will be given a warning message five minutes before the end of your session. The PC will log out automatically for the next user to take their turn.

Please ensure you log on to the PC within 10 minutes of the start of the booking, or the booking will be cancelled. You can book up to a week in advance, using the booking system on the PC you have booked or by telephone. The last session of the day will end 15 minutes before the library closes.

Use of PCs by children and young people

Children and young people up to the age of 16 must be library members to use the children's computers and need to have their card with them to book a PC. They may use the computers only if a permission slip is signed by the parent/guardian, or if the parent/guardian gives permission when they join their child at the library. Children under the age of 8 may not use the computers without adult supervision.

Each child or young person can book up to half an hour every day. Slots can be booked up to one week in advance.

Bookings for a children's PC must be made in person or by telephone.

Viewing unsuitable material

Please remember that this service is provided within a busy public library open to people of all ages.

The viewing of violent, sexually explicit or other offensive material is strictly prohibited. Anyone discovered doing this will be asked to leave the building immediately and banned from using the PCs in future.
