Childminders' library tickets

Childminders, do you know what your local library can offer you...?

Your local library can offer you…

  • A special Childminder's Library Ticket. You can join at any Croydon library - just bring along your OFSTED registration.
  • Up to 20 books 9 of which can be stories and music on tape or CD to borrow for 4 weeks.
  • 6 videos / DVDs which cost from 75p - £3 for 7 days.
  • Visits - bring your children to explore the library, choose books and enjoy songs, rhymes and stories at Baby Rhymetimes, Wiggle & Jiggle sessions for toddlers and Storytimes for pre-school children.
  • PCs with free broadband Internet access.
  • Information about Bookstart.
  • Summer holiday reading activities for all ages from the Bookstart Book Crawl for babies and toddlers to the Book Trail for primary aged children and beyond.
  • Friendly staff to help with all your book and information needs.

We understand that young children can sometimes be noisy…so please don’t worry. All our activities positively encourage children to join in and have fun in the library.

Home educators' library tickets

Croydon Library Service offers a Home Educator's library ticket for parents living in Croydon who are educating a child at home. To be eligible for the ticket, the child being educated at home must be on the Elective Home Education register which is held by the Department for Children, Young People and Learners.

The ticket will enable the parent to borrow:

  • 9 books
  • 6 audio items of which there is a charge for adult material
  • 6 videos and/or 6 DVDs for which there is a charge
  • 6 CD-Roms for which there is a charge

Only one Home Educator's ticket will be available to the parent regardless of the number of children being educated at home.

To apply for a Home Educator's ticket the parent has to complete a Home Educator's membership form, available from the library. One official proof such as driving licence, allowance book or Council tax letter is required to verify name and address.
