London Borough of Croydon

Resident participation - keeping up to date

Mystery Shopping – a new initiative

We are setting up a Residents Mystery Shopping programme. Croydon Council residents will make telephone calls, visit reception areas and research the council's website. All this information will be fed back to Croydon Council to help bring about service improvements. If you are a Croydon Council resident and are interested in becoming a Mystery Shopper please contact Maggie Taylor.

Resident Participation - Key Performance Indicators

The latest six-monthly report from the Resident Participation Team is available to view below. It gives various statistics relating to panel meetings, the Housing Sounding Board and the recent satisfaction survey.

Neighbourhood Voice update

A focus group of residents has been helping develop the block representative scheme, which is to be called Neighbourhood Voice. A 'Neighbourhood Voice' would represent the residents in his or her block or road on local topics such as monitoring services and reporting issues. We now have pilot schemes in the following areas:

  •  Pawsons Road/Marion Road
  •  Auckland Rise
  •  Kingsdown Avenue
  •  Oaklands, Bourne Park Close and Knights Court.

Block representatives for these areas began monitoring services in March. The pilot schemes will initially run for six months, during which time their success will be monitored. If you would like to find out more about being a Neighbourhood Voice please contact Maggie Taylor.

Satisfaction Survey

Thank you to those of you who have taken part in our latest (February 2008) satisfaction survey. The survey results will be available soon. In the meantime, results of the previous survey, information about meeting attendance and other resident participation statistics can be found in the TLP Appendix below. If you are a council tenant or leaseholder and would like to take part in future surveys make sure you are included by registering on the Housing Sounding Board.

Resident Participation Awards

Well done to all those recognised in our annual awards. The 2007 winners were announced on Monday 17 December 2007.  For details of the winners please see the document at the bottom of this page.

Beacon open days

The Resident Participation Team has hosted two open days for officers and resident representatives from other local authorities and housing organisations. For more information about our Beacon award and to read our case studies, follow the 'see also' link at left.

Take Part Newsletter

Take Part, the Resident Participation newsletter, was sent to all members of the Housing Sounding Board in the autumn. See the download below for all the latest news from the team, in particular the article on page four about how Croydon residents have made a difference in their own areas.
