How to complete a housing transfer application

To complete your housing transfer application you will need to have the following information:

  • full name, address, date of birth and ethnicity of each person on the application
  • National Insurance numbers
  • types of property required
  • areas required
  • medical conditions of any person on the application which effects the type of property needed
  • names and contact details of any support or social workers who are assigned to you or your household

Saving your application

It is recommended that you save your application as you go along. You will be asked to submit a password of your choice. You can then continue with your application.

To get back to your application go to the Housing transfer application link and open a new form then:

  • click on the 'Restore' button
  • tick the version you wish to restore
  • enter your password

Please note:

  • you can only restore your application on the same computer where you saved it
  • you can only restore your application within three days of saving it

Submitting your application

When you have completed and submitted your online application, a summary will be displayed on screen. You must print, sign and return the Declaration, Inclusion statements and, if relevant, medical questionnaire to the housing register team (details below). 

You will need to provide the following documentary proof for you and all members of your household:

  • proof of identity e.g. full length birth certificate, passport, picture driving licence, Home Office documents
  • proof of address e.g. utility bill, bank or post office statement or pass book
  • proof of income e.g. DSS letter, recent payslips, Certificate of Workers Registration
  • proof of child benefit entitlement for each child
  • proof of pregnancy (if relevant)
  • a copy of your tenancy agreement if you are a housing association tenant

Send or bring your forms and documents to the housing register team.

Please note: we cannot process your application until all your documents have been received. All information given on your application will be verified.

When your application has been processed we will write to you to tell you which band you have been placed in.
