Broadening Horizons
If you are aged 20 or over and have been made homeless, are at risk of losing your accommodation or have been housed by Croydon's housing service you can get support from the Broadening Horizons team.
We offer free and impartial advice to help people in housing need to improve their housing and employment prospects. This includes one-to-one guidance and support with your employment or training goals.
What is on offer?
- information, advice and guidance
- a personalised action plan with ongoing support
- help with finding suitable courses or training and advice on funding
- careers advice and help with your CV, job application and interview preparation
- support to help you increase your self-confidence, motivation and presentation
- workshops covering relevant employment topics such as customer service, confidence for work, interviewing and the benefits of voluntary work
- access to other agencies and organisations providing financial assistance and specialised services
- an opportunity to enhance your independence, experience and social skills.
How does it work?
- all advice and support is free and impartial. Our service is completely confidential and will not affect any benefits or accommodation you receive
- the service is individually tailored to meet your short-term and long-term goals and we work at a pace that suits you and your circumstances

the service is adaptable - we have experience working with:
- lone parents
- carers
- long-term unemployed
- those with mental, physical or learning disabiliities

Drop-in
We offer a drop-in service at Taberner House (Access Croydon Adult services and housing wing) Tuesdays-Thursdays, 1-4pm. No appointment necessary - just come along.
Workshops
Broadening Horizons offer interactive workshops which will help to develop your skills, knowledge and confidence. Each session will last 1 1/2 hours and you will get the chance to participate and ask questions around your chosen topic.
All workshops are free to those eligible for the Broadening Horizons project (downloard leaflet below for more information) and participants will be given the opportunity to access further one to one support with the advisers following the workshop.

- application forms
- confidence for work
- customer service
- CVs
- interviews
- professional conduct
- volunteering.
