Active lifestyles
We aim to improve the health and quality of life of Croydon residents by encouraging regular participation in physical activities. We offer reasonably priced activities in local facilities. They are accessible to most people, sensitive to different cultural needs and provided as part of the following projects.
Exercise referral
The Exercise Referral Scheme provides safe and effective exercise sessions for participants who have one or more risk factors for coronary heart disease and for those who already have heart disease.
Doctors or health professionals are required to register with the scheme initially before they can refer patients.
Community physical activity
We run courses aimed at introducing people to exercise and physical activity, everything from salsa to golf. They are organised by experienced professionals in a relaxed setting. You can download a copy of our current courses below.
Walking for health
We run programmes of led and self-guided short walks (1-4 miles) in local parks and open spaces. It's a great way to meet new people and become active. You can download a copy of our free guided health walks programme below.
Physical activity, children and young people
We are currently running a two year project in conjunction with Croydon Primary Care Trust and selected schools in the borough aiming to tackle obesity through participation in physical activity. Change 4 Life and Boost Croydon are websites geared towards physical activity for children and young people. You can view the sites by clicking on the links in the 'Associated links' box.
