Private and voluntary care homes
All care homes, whether council-run or in the private and voluntary sector, must meet the registration requirements of the Commission for Social Care Inspection.
They must use our Individual Placement Agreement (IPA) or, for residents not funded by us, the homes' own form of contract, which is signed by the resident and the home. This agreement covers the terms of the placement.
You can search for care homes on the Commission for Social Care Inspection website by need and location. You can also search for a home by its star rating. After a key inspection by CSCI, all care services receive a quality rating from 0-3 stars. This represents the range of poor through to excellent services.
