Council care homes
All our care homes provide residential care for older people needing 24 hour care and support.
Some homes have a mixture of single and double rooms. Double rooms are particularly suitable for couples who move into residential accommodation together.
There are currently three council run care homes for older people:
- Addington Heights, New Addington - closing September 2008 - see homes for the future
- Brigstock Manor, Thornton Heath - 33 beds (26 long stay, 7 respite)
- Homefield House, Old Coulsdon - 31 beds (11 long stay, 5 respite + 15 interim)
In addition there are currently three council run-homes for older people with dementia:
- Cheriton House, Thornton Heath - 41 beds (39 long stay, 2 respite)
- Langley Oaks, South Croydon - 33 beds (31 long stay, 2 respite)
- Stroud Green Lodge - 27 beds (Long stay)
All homes must be registered with the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI). You can search for care homes by need and location. You can also search for a home by its star rating. After a key inspection by CSCI, all care services receive a quality rating from 0-3 stars. This represents the range of poor through to excellent services.
